01. Can I use video conferencing without an IP Systems IP Private Network?Yes you can. We can provide a video conferencing bridge that can be accessed via suitable third party networks. We will not have the ability to manage the quality of the call so you are unlikely to experience the same standard as a managed on-net call.
02. Can I include people off our network on an internal video conference?Yes, we provide a public conferencing bridge for outside parties to join inside parties in a video conference.
03. Can I use a video phone without an IP Systems IP Private Network? No. The video phone is an IP phone that needs to be connected to a managed IP voice network.
04. How much bandwidth do I need into a location for a high quality video conference? It depends on the quality of the video experience you desire, from 513kbps for a boardroom video right up to 12Mbps for a multi-screen telepresence service. Remember, of course, that you need to allocate the same bandwidth in each direction. This can be a limitation for some offices relying on an ADSL connection.
05. Do I need to schedule video conferences or can I call meetings on the fly? With a video phone you can make one to one calls on the fly. If you want to stage conferences of three or more you will need IP Systems to allocate a conference room. This can be a video room, a voice room, a room for web-streaming, or any mix of the three. If you regularly stage video conferences then you can have unlimited use of a bridge, with pricing based on the maximum number of concurrent users at any given time.
06. What is the IP systems service more flexible than most conferencing solutions? Most voice or video conferences require you to pre-book a call. With IP Systems you can arrange on the fly access for voice and video conferencing. With a video phone you can dial a four digit extension and call from your desk to any other video phone on the network or to a boardroom conference system. It gives you enormous flexibility without the huge investment in infrastructure that is required with most teleconferencing systems.
07. Can I display other content, such as presentations, during a video conference?Yes. The capability is determined by your video conferencing equipment and the software you wish to use. The IP Systems network can be configured to prioritise data that belongs to collaboration software, so video and data used in your conference is given preference over other data on your network.
08. Will video traffic impact the quality of other services, such as Internet access and phone calls? Not if your network is engineered accordingly. IP Systems will recommend bandwidth allocations at each point on your network to cope with traffic peaks. If a lot of your employees are engaged in a video conference it could impact other services, although the speed of non essential data will be impacted before you experience degradation in voice quality. Voice traffic can be rerouted to other locations if one office is involved in a major teleconference.
